Football Flood Lighting
Getting Started
The first step to adding flood lighting to an existing sports field is as simple as contacting Magnatech LED for a free assessment to determine the basic requirements of your flood lighting project. A report will be generated to advise if flood lighting is feasible and to what extent is available. We will guide you through the options and considerations.
Determine the level of lighting and design considerations.
When choosing your lighting design, it is recommended to consider if an upgrade is likely in the future. This is an important consideration as it impacts the design and infrastructure. For example, If the current demand on a rugby field only warrants a class 3 lighting design for amateur level activity, but it is expected that a class 2 design is going to be required in the future for semi-professional level competition games, then we recommend using the class 2 infrastructure with the class 3 lighting arrangement. The same consideration can be applied to all other class options.
Why do you need to meet specific standards?
Most sports played on fields or courts are considered to have intentional deliberate high-speed object and player impacts. Where an object travels at speed through uneven light distribution, the player will judge the speed of the object at different velocity. It is for this reason that uneven lighting distribution becomes dangerous to the player(s). International standards regulate design to ensure player(s) safety in conjunction with spectator comfort and experience are maintained.
